There is a lot that can be said on this subject. It's a surprisingly broad and very popular topic of conversation these days, depending on who you're hanging out with. I have my own absolutely personal rendering of what I experience Shamanism to be. And this is partly what this website is about. I have come to understand that although there are commonalities for all types and origins of shamanism, much is still left up to individual interpretation. The voice of Spirit is calling to the Shaman like a song. He/She hears this voice and interprets it in his own unique way. Shamanism is about taking this voice and embodying it: you open to it and let it flow through you. As Shaman, you don't just make music, you become the song.

Having said all that, let us continue on then for a deeper understanding of what shamanism is all about. We will explore what a shaman is, what a shaman isn't and some of the different parts of what it means to be called a shaman.

What is a Shaman?
